The Northwest Historic Ships Association, Inc. (NHSA)
The primary purpose of the Corporation is to procure a suitable former U.S. Navy ship for use as a museum, event & Educational Center and a Service Memorial in one of the northwestern states of the United States
This Corporation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501c3 of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code. NHSA is registered in Washington State under the laws of that state.

The process of executing the donation contract has many clearly documented comprehensive steps in order to assure the donee has the proper environmental, financial and operational plans to enable the Northwest Historic Ships Association to create and operate the ship and its complex in a manner consistent with the Navy’s determination to preserve and maintain one of her prized possessions in a manner that reflects the Navy’s heritage.
